Review: MAC "Soiree" nail lacquer

I admit, I partially bought this because it's got my twitter name.

MAC's "Soiree" nail lacquer was part of their Cham-Pale collection launched last Christmas.

Let me first say, this is a frost polish and when applied, feels like you are "foiling" on the lacquer.

The colour is lovely and feels very festive! But personally, not my favourite. I don't think it goes very well with my skin tone and quite frankly, purchasing this polish was an attempt for me to move away from my collection of dark toned polishes (think OPI's Royal Raja Ruby and Lincoln Park After Dark).

That said, I don't doubt this would be great for someone who is either into frost polishes or perhaps a lighter skintone.

One major con for "Soiree": it is slightly more difficult to get off. I used my regular Cutex Acetone Free nail polish remover and it took longer than usual. I also got shimmery bits all over my fingers during the removal process.

If this shade takes your fancy, you might want to hunt one down from eBay or your local CCO.

Diptyque Baies room spray

This one isn't quite related to make up but it's something I feel I should share with you all.

I purchased the Baies room spray by Diptyque today, and boy! it smells amazing! Normally I don't spend too much on things like candles and scents. Mainly because I am that person who buys them and then keeps them for display purposes only. But this one I made an exception. After months of hem and hawing, I decided to just buy it. The good news? I have no regrets!

Diptyque was founded in 1961, and produces amazing scented candles and fragrances. The name was inspired by the two windows flanking (diptychs) the front door of the original boutique at 34 Boulevard Saint Germain, Paris.

Diptyque

Initially I was quite skeptical, thinking it could be a waste of money. But I came home and gave my desk area a spray or two and so far it's still lingering. I'm guessing it tends to "cling" onto objects well? (so to speak)

I don't know how best to describe this scent, it's just a very fresh sweet smell. But I checked on their website and this is what they described it to be:
A bouquet of roses and blackcurrent leaves, a companion to diptyque eau de toilette, L'Ombre dans l'Eau.
Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase, and it looks fantastic on a table top!

Diptyque room spray retails for $60 (150ml)

Haul: MAC Venomous Villains

MAC's recent Venomous Villain collection really tapped into the little kid in all of us, or at least for me it did!

I'm very happy with this collection, especially since this is the FIRST collection all year that I've gotten excited about and made a decent haul out of (still can't believe I lasted 10 months). From what I bought, I'm so far happy with all of them and will provide reviews of them as I go.

vv haul

So here's what I hauled from this collection:

Dr Facillier
Magically cool powder- "Cajun"

"I'm So Vain" mirror
one side of it is a regular mirror and the other side a magnified one

Evil Queen
Blush- "Bite of an Apple"

Maleficent
Mineralize Eyeshadow Duo- "She Who Dares"

Nail Lacquer "Formidable!"
this polish looks gorgeous on!

Did you pick up anything from this collection? What do you think of it? Let me know!

October Favorites!

What better way to start with my October favorite products :)

oct favs

This month consists mainly of lip products. I do have a few others in mind but I'm not completely sold yet. So if I am, they will turn up on next month's fav list ;)

1. Stila Smudgestick eyeliner in "Stingray"
Think Stila's smudge pot, but in a stick, and waterproof. Rather smudge resistant, which is important for me on the water line. I have weird eye lids that always manage to make just about anything run. This stayed on well, and if any smudging at the corners of my eye were to occur, it's minimal. This gets a thumbs up because I initially didn't think it would last.

2. Dr Lipp original nipple balm for lips
I know! Nipple balm, I know. Really not as odd as it sounds.
I'm always buying lipbalms and lip conditioners. It's my #1 bought beauty category, hands down. This particular one gets a mention because I find it lasts just that tad little longer when applied, especially when going on to drinking water and having the odd snack. It's got a semi-thick jelly consistency, and goes on very nicely. A little goes far as well, not to mention it can pass of as clear gloss!
I rotate this with a chapstick because despite it being a decent product, it did still cost me a pretty penny. Doubt I'd be rushing to repurchase. Gonna make this tube last!

3. Nars lipstick in "Dolce Vita"
This one needs no introduction. It's a beautiful color that suits so many skin tones. Gives your lips a subtle hint of colour without being thick or "lipstick-y". If you can only choose one lipstick from Nars, this would be the one!

4. Make Up For Ever HD Blush in #7 "One Too Many"
OH! BOY! I LOVE this product! I love cream blushes but usually don't go for them (especially during summer) because they can melt off your face if not set properly, or even add to oil slick on the face. But this one has by far been a winner. I've been using this for quite some time now and it stays put through the day. Even without setting it, I find it stays on pretty well. I'm sure SOME of it didn't last but overall, it did. A+! I've already purchased this in another shade.

NOTE: You do only get 0.33 fl oz in the bottle but I have to STRESS that you only need the tiniest amount. It is highly pigmented so the size of a grain of rice would be sufficient to cover both cheeks imo. I've had mine for months and have barely made a dent.

Looking forward to what November brings! Hope you enjoyed this :)

Warm welcome!

HEY EVERYONE! This would be my new outlet for my obsession with beauty products!

Unfortunately ever since I lost my account access for 10 whole months to google, I've picked up new responsibilities that have now left me with little time do anything more than blog. I hope to be able to go back mainly to videos in the near future, but for now this would be the best way I can share my experiences with you all on a more regular basis.

If you'd like to ask questions, feel free to leave comments :) Otherwise, I hope you enjoy what I have to offer here!

So without further delays, welcome to The Third Edit!
